थे reason

Notice the weird character on the title. I wonder how I got that. hehe

In the last a week or two, it has been upside-down tonggang-terbalik of my life. Nervousness, depression, outstandingly happy, scared to death, all came at almost the same time. But they were on each seperate events, non related to each other. I wish its something I could write here, but forget it, its too personal.

Dear Mr Asrul (previous owner of my current phone number),
If somehow out of the blue that you got to read this post, please be informed that your former workers and bunch of friends and relatives were looking for you.

Dear Callers looking for Mr Asrul,
Yes, I am your operator in charged. Please do call at any hours. I'll convey the message to him, ok. (mata ke atas, tangan ke dada)

Don't you agree that Demi Lovato sings better than Salena Gomez. However, this song has been in my head for quite sometime :)Love you like a love song

Thoughts jumble up!

These is what I had in mind in the last few days.
************************************************
I have totally abandoned this blog for such a loooong time. Why had I come back? A few reasons I guess
1) I need to nag, I need to whine
2) I love my friends and family so much, that I don’t want to bore them with my whine
3) I need to channel my frustration and anger without upsetting other human being
4) I need a medium to express my thoughts on things
5) I just want to talk to a machine that doesn’t talk back..hehe

I changed the site title from Once Upon a Time in Shanghai to Dari Ekor Mata Intan Tettiyana (bukan nama sebenar). It was some sort of my signature when I was pretty much involved with Kapasitor (well, not anymore). Acronyms for?? Hmmm, go figure. :-)

Of course you shouldn’t say something inappropriate in FB. Even if you badly need to say something inappropriate, you’ll have to put your words nicely, so that it doesn’t sound inappropriate. Am I not correct? Your boss could read it. Your colleagues from work are your friends. So be-itch-ing about your co-workers is prohibited of course! Eh am not saying that I do that a lot. It’s just that, you are at work like what 24/7? Who are the only ones you see and hangout other than your friends at work. There will be people that you are working with, that put you in pressure and make you frustrated. Those, who constantly boil you to 135 degrees. Elaboration?? more to come later.

Ok, since am putting that 24/7 at work, I got this rush of feeling that I don’t come out much and all I do is work. Heck! I hate to admit that. There is in no doubt, I LOVE my job. Ding dong! Call for a night out!

I realized that there is this statistic function in your blogspots, where as you can view where your site was accessed from. (Is that what zugriffquelle means? I can understand but I can’t really explain). To my surprise, my friends are still writing in their blogs as well. Awesome!

**********************************************

Who the heck is this Hasrul?? Up to today there has been about 2-3 calls/smses, asking for Hasrul aka Jiwang (this fella mesti ada taman dalam hati, kalau tak takkan member2 panggil jiwang..hehe). He must have used this new h/p no. that I'm currently using.

***********************************************

I was at my deepest state of mind last week. Well, that was probably due to the PMS infection. I was so pissed off to the fact that I missed my ex-boss farewell party and the fact that my friends did not bring back food, and that I was starving to death, because I had to attend an urgent restore as I was holding the oncall phone for the whole week. (wow! that is a whole lot lines to read). I don't usually get upset because of the small-small things. As I said, PMS might have driven to such frustration.

There are quite number of things in my mind now; the data migration and web
application project that I’m leading. I am starting to doubt myself, am I capable of doing all these on top of my base workloads. Talking about the base workloads, where there are projects here and there. Honestly, I feel like am done supporting sites. It is less of a challenge now.

*************************************************

I kind of noticed that, few of my friends uploaded their old photos when we were in Deutschland in FB. It strikes me that could it possible that we missed Deutschland so much? I did upload few old photos in FB. I missed my friends, missed the day we hang out and do stuff together. I missed the pillow talk with intang, neyn, kia, jan, wawa, sue, kun, fasi, has, aida, auni and zet. I missed going to places. I missed the life I had when I was in Deutschland. I missed the dear mates in Ulm, abg am, abg megat, shazelan, che, astar, batpo, Kelvin, adhi, arip usw. I missed my classmates florian, carlo, martin, steve and dave. I missed the weather. I missed the silence. I missed working in Siemens and MAN Diesel. I missed running to catch the bus and train. I missed doing the groceries shopping. I missed

**************************************************

Talking about missing Germany, I just had an opportunity to converse in Deutsch today. It was awesome! The guy contacted me yesterday because there’s issue with an oracle server, not purging its data as expected. I never knew that there’s EMIT /DBAM folks in Germany. When I got his email today, I noticed his signature. He is currently located in Hannover. So taking the opportunity at hand, I IM’ed him to do a follow up on the issue. It has been awhile since I had real Deutsch conversation with anyone. It feels great! And oh my God, my Deutsch is getting rusty. It has been only 3 years since I left Germany, yet it has been this bad. I have forgotten a lot!

The first phone number

Recent event..My phone no. was terminated, coz I did not 'top-up' my prepaid card timely. It is heart breaking. I had the no. since 2001 and it was the first no I had back then. Lots of sweet, dark, unerasable memories, I had with that no.

I remembered buying a new handphone (my first own handphone) when I was studying in UiTM. It was 2001. I was accompanied by a dear friend of mine. We went to Pertama complex. If I am not mistaken, I ended up buying Siemens C25 (the black, bulky one), after several choices thrown out in front of me. Siemens C25 was the smallest, inexpensive phone that I could ever afford to buy, provided that I was a 'scholarship'ed student :)

The sweetest memory with this no. is that, my mom used it when I was in Germany. She maintained the no. I called, sms'ed her daily, weekly by this no.

And of course, sweet and dark memories about the phone is when you talk about your love life. Love was conveyed through this number. Frustration was expressed through this no. Okay, am emotional now!

My friend commented on my facebook's status; that she remembers this number. How awful that I've lost it. The no. has been in my friend's phonebook for ages.

I wish I could have the number back. However, I have no luck in keeping the number. I had requested for the number to be converted to fixed line. The customer line service said that is up to the management decision, whether the no can be registed as fixed line, etc...Maxis has came back saying that te no is not available. I doubt it! Apparently, an appeal is also not going to help. If only I have a friend in Maxis that could help me getting the no. back :(

I've registered for a new number, mainting the last four digits. That's the best that Maxis can offer. I am hoping to build new memories with this new number. Hoping for the best out of it.

Adios 012-2653852!!

After such long time

Wow! My last entry was in 2008. A lot has happened since then...I rather not talk about what had happened in these past years.

It's 2011! It's 11.1.11 today. While driving home from work today, it occurs to me that I did not have any new resolution for the year 2011. Can't think of any right now though..

(listening to Keane - Somewhere only we now)

Keyboard off for now. Am hoping to write more soon!

broadband in malaysia

I'm looking for the best provider for internet broadband connection. I was about to sign up with Celcom Broadband. Luckily, I came across such a disturbing fact on the condition of the service. "This service is bound by Celcom’s Fair Usage Policy of 5GB a month".

I was like, "woooaaaa...are they going to reduce my connection speed if I were to exceed the 5GB limit?". And the answer is yes! I did some research and found this somewhere in the net forum(tatau laa kesahihannya)

Here it goes:
Below are the FAQ for so call "FAIR USAGE POLICY":
There are total 4 pages on this FAQ

FAQ – FAIR USAGE POLICY

1. What is Fair Usage Policy?

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide reliable and high-quality broadband services, Celcom Broadband has a Fair Use policy on its Internet services. This enables us to manage the network better and ensure we can continue to deliver the best possible service at all times to all our subscribers.
A Fair Usage Policy is a policy enforced by Celcom to ensure high quality and good overall service performance for all Celcom Broadband subscribers at all times. The policy is enforced by means of network management tools and servers.

2. Why do you impose a Fair Usage Policy?

Fair Usage Policy is needed to clearly define the acceptable level of conduct between Celcom Broadband and its subscribers. This includes determining usage thresholds beyond which subscribers are classified as over-using the network. Currently, the defined acceptable level of usage for Celcom Broadband is 5GByte of data transfer per subscribers per month.
Fair Usage Policy is also needed because a handful of Celcom Broadband users make excessive use of available bandwidth, depriving the majority of subscribers of their deserved bandwidth. Thus, the quality of service for the majority of subscribers is badly affected. Fair Usage Policy overcomes this problem by ensure fair allocation of bandwidth among all Celcom Broadband subscribers to ensure equal and good service quality for every subscribers.

3. Where can I find more information about it?

The Fair Usage Policy definition can be found on www.celcom.com.my under the Celcom Broadband section.

4. How am I bound by this policy?

All Celcom Broadband Customers by signing on the application form and/or the addendum have automatically agreed to the Terms and Conditions Posted on the Celcom Website. As such the Fair Usage Policy that has been available since Sept 2007 on the website is applicable to all Celcom Broadband subscribers.

5. In the policy published on your website, you mention that my bandwidth will be managed, what does it mean?

To manage you bandwidth means Celcom reserve the right to control your allocated speed or more commonly referred to as throttle the speed of individuals should we find them continuously overusing and breaching the allocated data volume.

6. What does data volume mean?

All monthly unlimited broadband subscribers are allocated 5GB of data volume per month. Each activity performed on the Internet, for example, e-mailing, general web browsing, files transferring, chatting, peer-to-peer downloading or online gaming will accumulate your data volume. Celcom proactively monitors the data volume of each subscriber and will manage the bandwidth of the relevant subscribers when the usage exceeds 5GB.

7. What is 5GB?

1GB is 1024 MB (Mega Bytes)
To be exact, 1GB (Giga Byte) is 1024 bytes x 1024 bytes x 1024 bytes = 1,073,741,824 Bytes. Thus 5GB is 5 times of that volume.

8. How much is 5GB?
Roughly 5 gigabyte is about 1200 songs in MP3 format, or 5 two-hour movies, or 10,000 content rich websites like www.yahoo.com

9. How do you impose the Fair Usage Policy?

Celcom has state of the art monitoring tools that monitors individual bandwidth utilizations. Once an individual’s utilization has reached its allocated limit, Celcom will send out an alert to the customer and proceed with the bandwidth management exercise. This is an automatic and accurate process.

10. How does Celcom Send Alerts?

Celcom will send out SMS Notification with the breach of allocated data volume alert.

11. What if I have a Data Only / Stand Alone Broadband Package that doesn’t support incoming SMS, how will Celcom then alert me?

Based on the information supplied by you during your registration, Celcom will send out the SMS notification to the alternative mobile number provided.

Should you feel that this information requires updating, please immediately contact Celcom’s Customer Care Centre at 1-300-111-000 and proceed to update your personal particulars.

12. When you manage my bandwidth or throttle my speed, what speed will you put me on?

Once Celcom’s monitoring system has detected your breach of 5GB, Celcom will send out the SMS and immediately proceed to reduce or throttle your speed.

Based on your current package, if you are on Broadband Advance (3.6Mbps), you will be reduced to 128 kbps and if you are on Broadband Basic ( 384kbps) you will be reduced to 64kbps.

13. How long is the throttle period for?

Your speed will continue at the reduced speed allocation until the end of that particular calendar month, On the first day of each month, customer’s bandwidth allocation counter will be reset to 0 and their speed will be reset back to their original subscribed speed.

14. What should I do to reduce my usage?
Immediately reduce your bandwidth usage (uploads and downloads) for all applications. Both upload and download traffic count towards your personal usage. Normally the main contributor for high data usage is peer-to-peer (P2P) applications. If you have any form of peer to peer (p2p) file-sharing program (eg BitTorrent, DC++, EMule) on your computer, or p2p TV (Joost, 4oD, BBC iPlayer) then your upload traffic (traffic people elsewhere on the Internet get from you) could be extremely high and you might not even realize it.

To reduce your upload usage you can

· fully exit p2p applications when you've finished using them (don't leave them running in the background or the system tray with other people uploading from you if you aren't downloading),

· set a low limit for your maximum upload speed in your p2p program,

· uninstall p2p programs from your computer completely using Add/Remove programs if you do not need them anymore.
Another important contributor for high data volume is virus, spamming or spyware running at the background of your computer, without you realizing it. Ensure that you have installed the latest and updated version of anti-virus, anti-spamming and anti-spyware software.
It is highly recommended that you monitor your own internet usage in order to prevent unauthorized applications in your computer from exhausting your data volume allocation.

15. What can I do to un-throttle?

For now, there is no means for customers to request for un-throttling. All throttling will be enforced from the moment of breach of 5GB until the last day of the month. Un-throttling will only be done on the first day of every month. However, Celcom will have the option of purchasing more data volumes to prevent throttling in the near future.

16.What applications make my usage high?

It is most likely to affect you if you use:
· peer to peer (p2p) file-sharing software (eg BitTorrent, eMule, p2p TV)
· peer to peer TV, such as Joost, Sky Anytime, BBC iPlayer, or 4oD
· Video on demand and video streaming services such as TV & films from iTunes Store.
· Youtube videos
· Virus, spamming and spywares.

Whats the point of having a broadband connection if you were to only use it for reading emails, internet surfing, etc. 5 2-hours movies to dowload every month? Nay...I dont think so!! I've missed a lot of "desperate housewives", "how i met your mother", "the big bang theory", and bunch of movies from feb to july 2008..5Gb per month, is just not enough!
